In Loving Memory
On December 26, 2017 John Enright, an visionary and icon here at Kafakumba passed away when he and his wife Kendra were in a terrible traffic accident. Kendra is still recovering at home, but is doing quite well. Their two sons, Brian and Nathan and their wives and children continue to live near their mother and are working to ensure that the legacy of their father lives on. The Honey Business
The December 2017 was very low due to the strange pattern of this last rainy season. Rather than the 150-200 tons we were expecting, we harvested only 85 tons which, unfortunately, is below our breakeven point. Recently, the honey business was featured on the Woodmizer website (here) and a nice YouTube video summarizes the business well (here). We are still working with about 10,000 farmers to supplement their income!
Kafakumba Trust School
The preschool that started 4 years ago as an extension of the God's Kids ministry here at Kafakumba Training Center now goes up to 2nd grade with 45 students and has changed names to Kafakumba Trust School! We hope to continue adding a grade each year as long as we are able to help provide these kids with a great education! (See the picture of them on the home page slide show on the merry-go-round or read more here).
Pastors' School Firsts
The 2018 Zambia Pastors' School is the first to have pastors from Namibia! These 6 pastors will make a nice addition to our new class of pastors from Tanzania and Zambia and will round it off to around 30 new students! We are excited to have
The Foundation - Training Pastors into the Future
Pastors' School will be celebrating our 55th anniversary this year. And we have grown from 5 pastors to over 200! With that growth come expenses - at this point about $70,000/year! The Foundation's goal is to form an endowment of $1 million that will fund the pastors solely from the interest and we are more than 1/2 way there! If you're interested in helping, click here.
Help fight stereotypes
The single story creates stereotypes, and the problem with stereotypes is not that they are untrue, but that they are incomplete. They make one story become the only story.
